Mary Kolessar
Mary joined Mericle Commercial Real Estate Services in 2016 and currently serves as the Executive Director of DiscoverNEPA, Mericle’s ten-county regional marketing initiative promoting Northeastern Pennsylvania as a great place to live, learn, work and play. Launched in May 2018, DiscoverNEPA uses its regional platform to highlight local businesses, things to do, nonprofits, regional resources, deals and contests in the form of articles, photography and videos. It is an all-inclusive, comprehensive resource for anyone looking to discover the greatness that Northeastern Pennsylvania has to offer.
Mary holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from King’s College. Her accounting career began in the Internal Audit Department of the former United Penn Bank in Wilkes-Barre, and after relocating to the Philadelphia area, Mary spent several years working for CoreStates Financial Corporation where she worked as an Audit Manager before serving as a Vice President of Internal Accounting Control.
After living briefly in Rochester, Minnesota, Mary returned to the area and pursued a different career path, obtaining a Master of Science degree in Education from Misericordia University. Prior to joining DiscoverNEPA, she was employed by Wyoming Seminary where she was a member of the Mathematics Department at both the Lower and Upper Schools and also served as the Dean of the Middle School. Mary has also worked as an adjunct instructor of mathematics at King’s College.
Mary and her husband David reside in Shavertown and are the proud parents of two grown sons – Alex and Jake. She currently sits on the Board of Directors for the F.M. Kirby Center and Candy’s Place where she also serves as Treasurer. An avid Penn State football fan, Mary is not sure what she will do this fall if she can’t make her road trips to State College.
